Does Xantech install products?

Xantech does not install or employ installers. If you need your equipment installed, call you local Xantech sales representative and they will assist you in finding an installer.


How do I query the RF2IR?

Remove power from the RF2IR. Turn the unit over and set the rotary switch to "F". Apply power to the unit and wait for the 2 led's to turn off. Keep the RF2IR within 6' of the XTR39. Open Universal Dragon and click Base Unit - WhoAmI - RF2IR. The "Who AM I?" window will appear displaying the model number and firmware version. When completed, make sure to remove power from the RF2IR and set the rotary switch back to it's original setting.


How do I upgrade the XTR39 firmware?

To upgrade the firmware on the XTR39 connect the unit to a USB port, select Base Unit - Upgrade - XTR39. By default Universal Dragon will point to C:Program FilesXantechUniversal DragonFirmwareXTR39. If a newer version of firmware was downloaded simply navigate to the folder that contains the downloaded firmware file. Select the firmware file and click OK.


How do I upgrade RF2IR firmware?

To upgrade the firmware on the RF2IR, select Base Unit - Upgrade - RF2IR. By default Universal Dragon will point to C:Program FilesXantechUniversal DragonFirmware. If a newer version of firmware was downloaded simply navigate to the folder that contains the downloaded firmware file. Select the firmware file and click OK. Please note that a Null Modem cable is require (not included) between your computer and the RS232 cable provided with the RF2IR.


I lost my Dragon Project, can recover it?

The project recovery feature is only available on the MRC88 and XTR39. To recover your project with in Universal Dragon select Base Unit - Project Recovery - XTR39 or MRC88. Please note that the project must be saved prior to closing it.


Where is the graphics directory located in Universal Dragon 2.3.X

In Windows XP the graphics folder is located in C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataXantech CorporationIcons. Please note that "Show Hidden Files and Folders" needs to be enabled. In Windows Vista the graphics folder is located in C:UsersAll UsersApplication DataXantech CorporationUniversal DragonIcons. Please note that "Show Hidden Files and Folders" needs to be enabled.

Can I import my project created in Dragon Drop (Legacy) into Universal Dragon?

Legacy projects can be opened in Universal Dragon. Go to File>Open, in the "Files of type" drop down menu select the appropriate extension of the project that will be imported. Select .PJA for Dragon 450/460 or .PJD for Dragon MRC. Navigate to the directory where the target file is located and select file then click on "Open.


What are the system requirements for Universal Dragon?

System Requirements:
* 1.0 GHz or greater processor (CPU)
* Windows XP, Vista (both 32 and 64 bit), Windows 7 (both 32 and 64bit)
* 800 MB Hard Drive space (you will need more as your libraries and projects expand)
* 512 MB RAM Minimum (1 GB preferred)
* Microsoft .NET Installed
* Mouse, Keyboard, USB Port or Com Port


What operating systems are supported?

Windows XP, Vista and 7 are the only supported operating systems at this time.


Can I install Universal Dragon on a Mac?

Universal Dragon can only be installed on a Mac if running Windows XP.


Why am I unable to install Universal Dragon on Windows Vista?

In order to install Universal Dragon in Window Vista you must be logged in as an Administrator.


Do I need to upgrade to latest firmware before I begin programming (MRC, MRAUDIO, SPLCD, and XTR39)?

It is highly recommended to use the most recent firmware and software. The units may not have the latest firmware loaded. You should always check the Xantech website before starting to program and confirm the latest firmware and software is being utilized.


Where is the driver location for SPLCD, XTR39, MRC and MRAUDIO?

When prompted by the new hardware wizard browse to C:Program files>Xantech>Universal>Drivers.


Why can’t I transfer my project to my MRC and/or XTR39?

The correct COM port needs to be selected. Make sure communications port setting is set properly under File>Global Preferences (Serial: Available Ports).


How do I learn commands (IR, 232 and Hex) in the palette editor?

To learn new codes click on the palette editor tab and switch the mode to edit (top of tab). Locate the brand of the device that the new codes will be used on and click “+” symbol.  Click “+” symbol again to select the component type. Select Hex for Pronto, 232 for 232 strings or 1 for IR commands. A list of the most common commands will appear on the right. To learn a command right click on the listed command and select Record Command.  With hex paste the pronto string into the new window, for RS232 enter the manufacturers string, for IR point the manufacturers remote at the learning eye on the touch panel. Don’t forget to switch back to Palette mode before assigning your newly learned commands.


How do I insert new pages for splcd’s?

New pages may only be added on function buttons. Right click on desired button and select "insert new page". Double click the button to go to the new page.

How far can I extend my emitter?

Using an 18awg conductor with standard connecting blocks, the outputs maximum distance is 50'. You may use the 078400 (link to product) 50' Emitter Extender. If using an amplified connecting block, max distance is 300' with 18awg unshielded.


How do I calibrate my SPLCD?

To enter Calibration Mode:
1. Power ON the SPLCD and allow to boot
2. With the backlight out, press and hold any area of the Touch Screen display with your finger. If the display is active (i.e. backlight ON), simply press and hold an area without an active GTL.
3. While keeping contact on the screen with your finger, gently depress the RESET button
4. Keep pressure on the screen while the SPLCD is rebooting. After approximately 3 seconds, the backlight will illuminate.
5. Release the screen and a black ‘dot' should appear.
6. With the stylus, touch the center of the ‘dot' and release.
7. Another calibration ‘dot will appear towards the middle of the screen. Again, touch the center of the ‘dot' and release. One more calibration ‘dot' will appear. Repeat as above. (There a total of three calibration points).
8. After the third calibration point, you can test the accuracy of the calibration. Simply touch anywhere on the screen and a ‘dot' will appear in that touched location. If the ‘dot' appears far from the ‘touch-point' location, repeat steps 3 thru 8.
9. Exit Calibration Mode: After 10 seconds of no activity, the SPLCD will automatically return to normal operation.
